Com este manual queremos primeiramente acolher-te e dar-te a conhecer a Disgraça e os seus propósitos e, depois, falar-te sobre as regras de uso do estúdio e da sala de concertos.

Quer sejas frequentadori assídua do estúdio em ensaios permanentes, quer faças uma utilização pontual ou tenhas uma banda/projecto convidado, é indispensável que leias este documento.

Partilha-o também com as restantes companheiris/integrantes para que todes se
responsabilizem pelo bom ambiente e funcionamento deste espaço.

A Disgraça

A Disgraça é um centro social DIY, anarquista, anti-autoritário e organizado horizontalmente, localizado na Rua Penha de França, em Lisboa, aberto desde 2015.

É um espaço para construir comunidade, apoio mútuo e apoiar a organizar diversas lutas, desde o antifascismo até à crise local de habitação; Um lugar para se criar laços na eterna luta contra o status-quo, autoritarismo, o Capital e o Estado, enquanto se desafiam o racismo, homofobia, transfobia, sexismo, entre outras avarias do Sistema.

Existem quatro andares com diferentes espaços e projectos:

• A Tortuga é uma livraria anarquista, que além do espólio de edições subversivas, tem várias T-shirts, discos, vinis e a recém criada mercearia grátis;
• A loja livre, onde podes levar ou deixar roupa, livros e tralhas interessantes;
• A biblioteca BOESG, que podes usar para estudar ou consultar variados livros sobre os estragos da sociedade actual;
• A oficina de serigrafia, disponível para os mais diversos experimentos;
• A cantina, com comida 100% à base de plantas que funciona por donativo livre;
• A sala de cinema que exibe uma variedade de filmes e documentários críticos e onde acontecem também diversos benefits para apoiar causas e colectivos locais e internacionais;
• A oficina de trabalho, onde podes dispor de ferramentas e materiais de forma livre;
• O ginásio, aberto à comunidade para treinos de auto-defesa e outras actividades físicas;
• A sala de ensaios & estúdio de gravação, disponíveis para projectos diy
• A sala de concertos, na qual passam desde bandas estreantes às mais batidas nos circuitos diy dos mais diversos cantos do mundo.

É importante saberes que não nos identificamos enquanto espaço comercial de consumo, descarte, alienação ou apolitização, incapaz de se auto-criticar, responsabilizar e evoluir.

Pelo contrário, desejamos que as entranhas da Disgraça se encham de pessoas
dispostas a **contribuir, a responsabilizar-se e envolver-se **com o espaço e comunidades que a animam.

Todas as pessoas que frequentam o espaço têm o dever de o cuidar e participar da sua manutenção, bem como zelar pela construção de um ambiente mais seguro para todas as pessoas marginalizadas, oprimidas e excluídas por este Sistema.

Para isto, bangamos juntas! e não permitimos comportamentos racistas, machistas, transfóbicos nem capacitistas.

     ACESSIBILIDADE:

Por favor respeita as políticas de cuidado colectivo: Até às 21h fumadores devem usar o terraço ou a rua, após as 21h devem fumar APENAS junto aos exaustores da cantina e esvaziar os cinzeiros. Todos os restantes espaços da Disgraça são zonas livres de fumo!

Infelizmente o acesso à Disgraça é feito por meio de uma escadaria longa pelo que ainda não é acessível a cadeirantes; de igual modo, as casas de banho não estão adaptadas para permitir a manobrabilidade de cadeiras de rodas.

Formas de contribuição

Infelizmente somos ainda vassalas de uma avultada renda que tentamos cobrir com as receitas da cantina e do bar. Por isto, priorizamos a inscrição de bandas e projectos cujis integrantes possam disponibilizar trabalho logístico. O ideal é a organização e participação nas cantinas mensais. Tudo o que tens a fazer é arranjar 4/5 amigalhaças, escolherem um menu, fazer as compras, cozinhar e servir uma refeição para uma média de 70 esfomeadas e deixar a cozinha arrumada.

Mas não te preocupes pois há sempre mais pessoas dispostas a ajudar 😉 Usamos um calendário de organização das cantinas em que tu e as pessoas da tua banda se poderão inscrever, juntamente com mais voluntáris do universo disgraçado, e que está disponível em:

Encorajamos, assim, formas de contribuição participatórias e engajadas com as
políticas da Disgraça.
Estas podem passar também por limpeza geral dos espaços, vendas na livraria ou no bar, colecta de donativos na porta da sala de concertos, respiga ou compra de comida/materiais de limpeza, manutenção do som e equipamentos durante e depois dos concertos etc.

Apesar disto, a contribuição em dinheiro é possível e deixada à consciência de cada umi, mas vista como último recurso. Sabemos, por experiência própria, a desresponsabilização que gera, enquanto nos agrilhoa a formas de relação comerciais e superficiais com as quais não nos queremos identificar.

Estúdio e sala de ensaios

Limpeza & Manutenção

O estúdio e demais estruturas da Disgraça são auto-geridas e devem ser cuidadas por todes que usufruem do espaço, assim, todes são responsáveis primeiramente, pela manutenção e higiene destas salas.

Para isto, existem caixotes do lixo e material de limpeza disponíveis em todos os pisos e podes sempre perguntar a alguém se não os encontrares.
Se a limpeza comunal não for assegurada, a tarefa recairá obrigatoriamente uma vez por mês a cada banda utilizadora do espaço. Devem aspirar o chão, retirar os lixos e colocar sacos novos e assegurar a arrumação do material.

Recordamos que não é permitido fumar no piso inferior da Disgraça, ou seja, no estúdio e sala de ensaios, na sala de concertos, na oficina e no ginásio. Se tens de o fazer dirige-te à entrada do prédio ou usa o pátio.

Por favor não leves animais não humanos para o piso inferior – os níveis de ruído prejudicam-nos e podem facilmente ser pisados ou magoarem-se. Limpa os seus cocós e xixis sempre que o fizerem dentro da Disgraça.

Inscrição & acesso

Para usares o estúdio, a sala de ensaios e sala de concertos é necessário inscreveres-te junto do colectivo da Disgraça para que te conheçamos e te informemos sobre as políticas do espaço e guias de manuseamento do material, bem como acordarmos a forma de contribuição mais adequada à tua banda/projecto.

O melhor é vires falar connosco presencialmente e assim mostramos-te logo as instalações, no entanto também podes agendar, contactando-nos através do e-mail.

É necessário que venham pelos menos duas pessoas por banda/projecto, mas melhor é mesmo vir a banda toda para que todes se responsabilizem e nos possamos apresentar.
Depois, receberão acesso à chave da sala, às credenciais do calendário de ensaios e ao grupo de comunicação interno no Signal, ferramentas que são a base da nossa organização comum.
Lembramos que nestes espaços em particular, a permanência de pessoas não inscritas não é possível, bem como de pessoas que não respeitem as regras descritas neste manual.

Calendário de ensaios

Para que os ensaios não coincidam entre si ou com concertos, organizamo-nos através de um calendário comum disponível em

Assim que receberes as credenciais de acesso deves criar um utilizador com o nome da tua banda/projecto e seleccionar o horário de ensaio. Para criares o utilizador, seleciona “new calendar” duas vezes e insere o nome do vosso projecto/banda.

Depois, na grelha, escolhe o horário pretendido e confirma os dados: insere o
nome da banda/projecto, seleciona o dia e as horas de início e término correctas.

Caso precises apagar a marcação efectuada, seleciona-a e escolhe “delete”.

Devem rever esta informação com antecedência para que no caso de desmarcarem outras bandas possam usufruir desse horário. É sempre bom avisares no grupo quando cancelarem ensaios e teres em atenção que deve haver abertura para negociar com as demais utilizadoras no caso de haver duas bandas ou mais a necessitarem de um horário em específico.

A melhor altura para ensaiar é a partir das 17h pois é a esta hora que a Tortuga abre e assim, à partida, a porta da Disgraça estará aberta. Ensaiar antes deste horário implica teres de combinar previamente no grupo com alguém que te possa abrir a porta.
Os ensaios não devem passar das 22h30 para não incomodar as vizinhas. Isto é de extrema importância para mantermos um bom ambiente entre todes e evitarmos
sarilhos com a ‘piolhícia.

Nos ensaios

No início do ensaio deves assegurar-te que as portas da sala de ensaios e do estúdio estão fechadas para que não passe ruído para a vizinhança.

Deves também ligar o interruptor que diz “vent” que renova o ar dentro do estúdio.

A cablagem que se encontra pendurada em suportes à entrada da sala de ensaios é de uso comum, assim como o material existente dentro do estúdio: bateria, mesa de mistura, amplificador de guitarra, amplificador de baixo, teclado.

A excepção é o móvel preto com estantes – aqui guardamos material de uso individual cuja utilização requer que perguntes no grupo por permissão. Se não estiveres familiarizade com estes equipamentos, o melhor é pedires a
algume companheiri que te possa ensinar a usá-los de forma segura para evitar danos.

Sendo um espaço auto-gestionado sem fins lucrativos, muito dificilmente temos verbas para repor o material, pelo que dependemos dos arranjos DIY, donativos de material e do seu cuidado e prolongamento de vida útil.

A mesa de mistura

Se precisares de amplificar a voz ou algum outro instrumento, podes usar a mesa de mistura. Primeiro, faz as ligações com os cabos necessários, por favor trata os cabos com cuidado, evitando largá-los no chão ou bater com as suas pontas com força pois podem estragar-se facilmente.

Depois liga a mesa no interruptor I/O que existe na sua traseira, verás luzes laranja a ligar. Se quiseres ligar um telemóvel à mesa, certifica-te primeiro que o outro interruptor traseiro, que diz “phantom power” está desligado, caso contrário destruirás o altifalante do teu aparelho. A seguir o amplificador das colunas que existe abaixo da mesa de mistura, verás luzes azuis ligadas. Para desligar os equipamentos deves seguir a ordem inversa: primeiro desligas o amplificador das colunas e depois a mesa de mistura.

Por favor não desligues microfones dos cabos quando ainda estão a receber corrente vinda da mesa! Desliga primeiro os cabos ou a mesa se precisares de trocar o microfone.

Antes de sair

Por favor no final do ensaio arruma e repõe no sítio todo o material que utilizares; enrola os cabos e arruma-os no suporte, deixa os microfones no compartimento almofadado abaixo da mesa de mistura, desliga os amplificadores e a mesa de mistura, as luzes e o ventilador, despeja os lixos, tranca a porta da sala de ensaios e coloca a respectiva chave no sítio acordado.

A má utilização e não respeito pelas regras comunais do espaço resultará num
convite de saída.

Se presenciares ou verificares mau uso das salas ou do equipamento deves chamar as pessoas à atenção e informares o grupo ou alguém do colectivo para que juntes possamos resolver a situação.

Concertos e atuações

A sala de concertos da Disgraça é um espaço DIY, não comercial e anti-
autoritário. Existem assim vários critérios que deves cumprir para organizares um concerto neste estaminé:

• Os preços devem ser acessíveis e flexíveis. Pode-se pedir às pessoas uma contribuição livre – sendo usual 3 ou 5diys- ou um preço fixo, acordado previamente com o colectivo da Disgraça, nos casos em que a banda necessite perfazer determinado valor. Adaptamo-nos ás capacidades financeiras de cada pessoa e afirmamos que estas não podem ser a base para recusar acesso aos concertos. Quem não puder pagar pode mesmo assim assistir aos concertos.
• O dinheiro colectado à entrada dos concertos serve para cobrir as despesas de deslocação/outras da banda. Não pagamos salários e esperamos que as bandas que aqui decidam tocar o façam conscientes do espírito voluntário e não comercial que é praticado em todas as valências da Disgraça. Queremos criar laços de colaboração e solidariedade e não de interesse monetário.
• Encorajamos aquelis que organizarem concertos na Disgraça a entregarem uma contribuição ao espaço. Esse valor será usado para investirmos no material e condições do espaço.
• Não aceitamos bandas com mensagens ou práticas que apoiem sistemas hegemónicos de destruição e opressão, nem que sejam classistas, sexistas, racistas, homofóbicos, transfobicos, capacitistas, especistas, etc., nem outros comportamentos de merda.
• A Disgraça almeja contrariar as estruturas verticais de poder e criar um espaço de colaboração e organização horizontais. Encorajamos quem esteja a organizar concertos que assuma também outras tarefas, sobretudo as de limpeza e arrumação antes e depois dos concertos e o cumprimento de turnos na colecta de donativos à porta e na manutenção do som.
• A Disgraça contribui com comida, bebidas e dormida para as bandas.
• Os concertos têm de terminar obrigatoriamente às 22h30 para que a vizinhança não seja incomodada e não tenhamos problemas maiores. A esta hora a mesa de som é desligada sem excepções.
• No final dos concertos e eventos por favor não fiques à porta da Disgraça e não deixes garrafas e lixo para as outras limparem; CUIDA da vizinhança.

• Antes de o publicares, partilha-o com o resto do colectivo para verificarmos se está tudo okay.
• Não coloques o símbolo do euro nem a palavra “preço”. Sugerimos antes “contribuição” ou “donativo”.

Manual for rehearsals, concerts and performances

Hello fellow Disgraça friends, welcome!

Our aim with this manual is first of all to welcome you and introduce you to Disgraça and its purposes and, secondly, to tell you about the rules for using the studio and concert hall.

Whether you regularly use the studio for regular rehearsals, use it occasionally or whether you are a guest band/project, it is essential that you read this document.

Share it with the other members of your project too, so that everyone takes
responsibility for the good atmosphere and functioning of this space.

Disgraça

Disgraça is a DIY, anarchist, anti-authoritarian, horizontally organised social centre, located in Rua Penha de França in Lisbon, open since 2015.

It is a space to build community and mutual support, and help organise a wide range of struggles, from anti-fascism to the local housing crisis. A place to bond in the eternal struggle against the status-quo, authoritarianism, the Capital and the State, while challenging racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, among other failures of the System.

There are four floors with different spaces and projects:

Tortuga is an anarchist bookshop which, besides a collection of subversive texts, has different T-shirts, records, vinyls and the newly created free grocery store;

The free shop, where you can take or leave clothes, books and interesting junk;
The BOESG library, which you can use to study or consult a variety of books on the ravages of today’s society;

The silk-screen printing workshop, available for a variety of experiments;

The canteen, with 100% plant-based food, which operates through free donations;

The cinema room showing a variety of critical films and documentaries and where various benefits are organised to support local and international causes and collectives;

The workshop, where you can use tools and materials freely;

The gym, open to the community for self-defense training and other physical activities;

The rehearsal room & recording studio, available for diy projects;

The concert hall, where bands perform ranging from newcomers to the most successful bands in diy circles from all over the world.

Importantly, we don’t see ourselves as a commercial space of consumption, disposal, alienation or a-politisation that is incapable of self-criticism, accountability and evolution.

On the contrary, we want the corners of Disgraça to be filled with people
willing to contribute, take responsibility and engage with the space and communities that enliven it.

Everyone who uses the space has the duty to take care of it and participate in its maintenance, as well as contribute to creating a safer environment for all the people who are marginalized, oppressed and excluded by this System.

With this aim, we strike together! and we do not allow racist, sexist, transphobic or ableist behaviour.

                                        ACESSIBILITY:

**Please respect the collective care policies: smokers should use the patio or the street until 9pm; after 9pm they should smoke ONLY near the exhausts of the canteen and empty the ashtrays. All other areas of Disgraça are smoke-free zones!

**Unfortunately the access to Disgraça is through a long staircase so it is not yet wheelchair accessible; also, the toilets are not adapted for wheelchair manoeuvrability.

Ways of contributing

Unfortunately, we are still subordinated to a substantial rent that we try to cover with the revenues from the canteen and the bar. That’s why we give priority to the registration of bands and projects whose members can provide logistical work. Ideally, projects organise and participate in the monthly canteen dinners. All you have to do is get 4/5 friends together, choose a menu, do the shopping, cook and serve a meal for an average of 70 hungry people and leave the kitchen tidy.

But don’t worry, there are always more people willing to help 😉 We use a calendar for the organisation of the canteen where you and the members of your band can sign up, along with more volunteers from the Disgraça universe, which is available at:

We encourage you to contribute in a way that is engaged and commits to the policies of Disgraça. You can contribute, for example, by doing a general cleaning of the spaces, selling at the bookshop or bar, collecting donations at the door of the concert hall, getting food/cleaning materials by buying them or dumpsterdiving, or taking care of the sound and the equipment during and after the concerts etc.

Still, contribution in the form of money is possible according to the conscience of each individual, but it is seen as a last resort. We know from our own experience the lack of responsibility it generates, while tying us to commercial and superficial forms of relationships with which we don’t want to identify.

Studio and rehearsal room

Cleaning & Maintenance

The studio and other structures of Disgraça are self-managed and should be taken care of by everyone who uses the space, so everyone is responsible for the maintenance and hygiene of these rooms.

For this purpose, there are rubbish bins and cleaning materials available on every floor and you can always ask someone if you can’t find them.
If communal cleaning is not ensured, every band that uses the space will be responsible for it once a month. They should vacuum the floor, take out the rubbish, put new rubbish bags and tidy up.

We would like to remind that smoking is not allowed on the first basement of Disgraça, i.e. in the studio and rehearsal room, the concert hall, the workshop and the gym. If you need to smoke, please go to the entrance of the building or use the courtyard.

Please do not take non-human animals downstairs – the noise levels will harm them and they can easily be stepped on or hurt. Clean up any poop or pee they might leave inside Disgraça.

Registration & access

To use the studio, rehearsal room and concert hall you need to sign up with the Disgraça collective so we can get to know you and inform you of the policies in this space and the guidelines for handling material, as well as agree on the most suitable form of contribution for your band/project.

The best thing is to come and talk to us in person so we can show you the facilities, but you can also schedule an appointment by contacting us by e-mail: disgraca@riseup.net

At least two people per band/project must be present, but it is better if the whole band comes so that everyone takes responsibility and we can all get to know each other.
You will then receive access to the room key, the credentials to the rehearsal calendar and the internal Signal communication group, tools that are the basis of our shared organisation.
We remind you that in these particular spaces, people who are not registered cannot enter, nor people who do not respect the rules described in this manual.

Rehearsal calendar

To avoid rehearsals clashing with each other or with concerts, we organise ourselves based on a common calendar available at

Once you receive the access credentials you should create a user name with the name of your band/project and select the rehearsal time. To create the user name, select “new calendar” twice and insert the name of your project/band.

Then, in the grid, choose the timetable you want and confirm the details: enter the band/project name, select the day and the correct start and end times.

If you need to delete the booking you have made, select it and choose “delete”.

You should review this information in advance so that, in case you cancel, other bands can use that time. It is always good to warn the group when you cancel rehearsals and to bear in mind that you should be open to negotiating with other users in case there are two or more bands that need a specific time slot.

The best time to rehearse is after 5pm because Tortuga opens at this time, so the door of Disgraça will be open. Rehearsing before this time means that you have to make an arrangement in the group with someone who can open the door for you.
Rehearsals should end by 22h30 so as not to disturb the neighbours. This is extremely important to maintain a good atmosphere with everyone and avoid trouble with the cops.

At rehearsals

Before a rehearsal you should make sure that the doors of the rehearsal room and the studio are closed, so that no noise gets out and into the neighbourhood.

You should also turn on the switch that says “vent” which gets some new air inside the studio.

The cables hanging on stands at the entrance of the rehearsal room are for commonal use, as well as the material inside the studio: drums, mixing desk, guitar amp, bass amp, keyboard.

The exception is the black cabinet with shelves – here we keep material for individual use, and if you want to use it you need to ask for permission in the group. If you are not familiar with the equipment, it’s best to ask a comrade to teach you how to use it safely to avoid damage.

Being a self-managed non-profit space, we can hardly afford to replace equipment, so we rely on DIY repairs, donations of material and on taking care of the existing equipment, prolonging its life cycle.

The mixing desk

If you need to amplify your voice or any other instrument, you can use the mixing desk. First, connect the cable as needed and please handle the cables with care: avoid dropping them on the floor or hitting the ends as they can easily be damaged.

Then turn on the I/O switch on the back of the table, you will see orange lights turning on. If you want to connect a mobile phone to the table, first make sure the other switch at the back – the one that says “phantom power” – is off, otherwise you will destroy the speaker of your device. Then, turn on the speaker amp below the mixing desk, you will see blue lights turn on. To disconnect the equipment you should follow the reverse order: first you disconnect the speaker amp, then the mixing desk.

Please do not disconnect microphones from the cables when they are still receiving power from the mixer! Disconnect the cables or the mixer first if you need to change the microphone.

Before you leave

At the end of the rehearsal please tidy up all the material you used and put it back in its place; roll up the cables and put them on the stand, leave the microphones in the padded compartment below the mixing desk, turn off the amps and mixing desk, the lights and the fan, empty the rubbish, lock the rehearsal room door and put the key where agreed.

If you misuse the space and not respect the shared rules for its use you will be invited to leave.

If you witness or see misuse of the rooms or equipment you should draw people’s attention to that and inform the group or someone in the collective so that we can work together to solve the situation.

Concerts and performances

The Disgraça concert hall is a DIY, non-commercial and anti-authoritarian space. There are therefore several criteria you must meet in order to organize a concert at this venue:

Prices should be affordable and flexible. You can ask people for a free contribution -usually 3 or 5 dys- or a fixed price, agreed in advance with the Disgraça collective, in cases where the band needs to reach a certain amount. We adapt ourselves to the financial capacities of each person and state that these cannot be a reason for refusing access to the concerts. Those who cannot pay can still attend the concerts.
The money collected at the entrance of the concerts is used to cover the band’s travel/other expenses.

We don’t pay any salaries and we hope that the bands that decide to play here do so while being aware of the voluntary and non-commercial spirit that is practiced in all of Disgraça’s areas. We want to create bonds of collaboration and solidarity, not of financial interest.
We encourage those who organise concerts in Disgraça to make a contribution to the venue. This contribuition will be invested in equipment and in improving the conditions of the space.
We don’t accept bands with messages or practices that support hegemonic systems of destruction and oppression, or that are classist, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, speciesist, etc., or any other shitty behaviours.
Disgrace aims at countering vertical power structures and creating a space for horizontal collaboration and organisation. We encourage those who are organising concerts to also take on other tasks, especially cleaning and tidying up before and after concerts and taking turns collecting donations at the door and maintaining the sound.
Disgraça contributes with food, drinks and sleeping accommodation for the bands.
The concerts have to end at 10.30pm so as not to disturb the neighbours and so that we don’t have any bigger problems. At this time the soundboard is turned off, no exceptions made.
Posters
Before you publish a poster, share it with the rest of the group so we can check if everything is ok.
Don’t put the euro symbol or the word “price”. We suggest “contribution” or “donation” instead.
